India
is aggressively developing in solar energy sector, especially in solar
photovoltaic (SPV). India has decided to achieve the target of 100GW, 60 GW for
ground based and 40 GW for rooftop by 2022 with the commissioned projects of
capacity 3,743 MW (almost ground based) by 2014-15. Rooftop PV is to be developed
from infancy stage, therefore, development of rooftop is really a challenging
job for India. The Ministry of New and Renewable
Energy (MNRE) has fixed the year wise targets and state wise targets for
attaining rooftop target to 40 GW by 2022. Year wise rooftop target for the
year 2015-16 is 200MW and subsequently increasing year by year and reaches to 9,000
MW in the year 2021-22.

Now, the Government has realized
that ample rooftop is available at residential, commercial, industrial and
institutional sectors in the country and that should be utilized for generation
of electricity. "Above targets are to be
achieved by the peoples, not by Government". Therefore, peoples have vital
role for generation of electricity from solar rooftop PV. Government has determined to achieve the
targets at all cost, developing mechanism for large adoption of solar rooftop
PV, providing subsidy, bank loans and training for installation of solar rooftop
PV at residential, commercial, industrial and institutional sectors ranging
from 1KWp to 500 KWp .

Why Government is too much taking interest in roof top solar pv.
ReplyDeletesolar rooftop plant not appearing in cities despite government initiatives.
DeleteLimited land is a major problem in India, therefore, government wants to utilize the ample rooftop available in the cities for generation of electricity. The requirement of electricity is more in cities.

ReplyDeletei will like to install rooftop at my residence, pl tell me the cost.
ReplyDeleteDear Aman, the cost of rooftop solar depends upon the capacity, Will you tell me about your monthly electricity bill.
ReplyDeletemy monthly electricity consumption is 200 unit per month.
Delete1 KW solar rooftop PV plant generates 4 units daily. 1 KW plant would generate 120 unit per month. Therefore, you should purchase 2 KW plant for your monthly requirement. 1 KW grid connected solar rooftop PV plant cost Rs. 70,000.00 and therefore, cost 2 KW plant shall be Rs.1,40,000.00.
DeleteRajasthan has a high solar resource and allotted only 2300 MW, pl, give detail
ReplyDeleteNo doubt, Rajasthan has high solar resource but the potential of solar rooftop PV is limited in Rajasthan. Allotment was on the basis of potential. The target of 2300 MW is to be achieved by Rajasthan by 2022.

ReplyDeleteI want to take training on rooftop PV for starting new business, kindly give me detail.
ReplyDeleteNow, the Government of India (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) has been organizing camps to provide training in various cities in India. The advertisements are given in local papers before commencement of training in cities. Therefore, you get in touch with local papers.
